About the Parish

The Parish of Petersfield covers the churches of St Laurence in Petersfield and St Agnes in Liss, both served by a parish priest – Canon Gerard Hetherington.

Approximately 200 people attend Sunday services at St Laurence and around 80 attend St Agnes. Both churches are administered from the Parish Office in Petersfield by Carol Warren.

If a member of the parish community is taken to a local hospital, please let the Parish Office know. The hospitals are not allowed, under the Data Protection Act, to contact the parish directly.

Offertory at St Agnes

Separate services are held in each church throughout the week and each arranges its own roster of ministers to support the Parish Priest.

The Parish is in the Diocese of Portsmouth whose Bishop is Crispian Hollis. It is part of the Pastoral Area of Alton/Petersfield of which the coordinating pastor is Canon Hetherington.

The parish is served by four Committees - the Pastoral Parish Council, Finance Committee, Liturgy Committee and Maintenance Committee.

This area has a brief History of the Parish and a section dedicated to Events which take place in the parish.

In 2005, the Parish took part in a Diocesan initiative to draw up a strategy for the future of parishes in the 21st Century. The results of our deliberations were written up as a Parish Plan entitled The Way Forward of which copies are available from the Office. Link to PDF
