Catechism
The class which is held on Tuesday afternoon 3.45 – 4.45 pm during term time gives children an opportunity to learn the essential and fundamental elements through the knowledge of Scripture and the Catechists, vital elements if they are to learn about their faith authentically.
Social awareness is also a part of the well-structured lessons which include craft work, team work, dance and some fun events, such as pancake day. We are also lucky enough to be able to use the Church for our lessons about Mass and the Sacraments. We aim to cater for three sets of children to suit their age and ability .
Our classes also cover the post First Holy Communion programme.
Volunteers
It is essential for us to recruit volunteers – no experience is necessary – apart from being a baptised Catholic. Training days are arranged. Because of Health & Safety regulations we have to have the correct number of adults per number of children.

Obviously any volunteer will have to like young children and be able to maintain discipline. It does help if they have an aptitude for story telling, craft work and drama but we also need willing helpers to provide the children with snacks, sharpen pencils, cut paper etc. It is also a help if they are willing to attend days for ongoing formation. A lesson plan will be available at the beginning of every term. Please contact the Parish Office if interested in finding out more about becoming a volunteer.
